FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you operate an appointment system and how long does an appointment last?

If you wish to try dresses then an appointment is highly recommended as we can get very busy. If you only wish to view the dresses then you can do this without an appointment. The average appointment lasts 1.5 – 2 hours.

What are the price ranges?

Wedding dresses are priced from £550 to £2200. Adult bridesmaids are priced from £179 and childrens’ from £129. We also stock a large range of sale wedding dresses priced from £150 and sale bridesmaids from £30.

Where is the shop located?
The Bridal Room is in Westbury-on-Trym, which is situated in North Bristol. It is only 5-10 minutes from Cribbs Causeway Shopping Centre and junction 17 of the M5.
What size samples do you stock?

We stock sample dresses from sizes 8-32. We have a range of plus size gowns specifically suited to curvier brides.

How many people should I bring to help me choose my dress?
It is highly recommended to bring one or two trusted friends or family when deciding on a dress. The more people you bring, the more differing opinions you will have, making the final decision very confusing!
How long does it take to order a dress?
Normal delivery for a wedding dress or bridesmaid is 12-20 weeks. Alterations are done 8-10 weeks before the wedding, so recommended ordering time to allow for delivery and alterations is a minimum of 6-7 months. If your wedding is sooner don’t despair as we have a large range of sale dresses that can be purchased straight from the rail. We can also order some dresses on a rush-cut, this will incur additional charges. These dresses can be altered and steamed at short notice, so if your wedding is under 6 months away we can still help you find your dream dress!
Do I have to pay for my gown in full at time of purchase?
No. When purchasing a gown we require a 50% deposit. The balance is due when the dress arrives in store. We are able to offer a payment plan if time permits. For further information please telephone the shop to discuss.
What methods of payment do you accept?
We accept all debit and credit cards (ex American Express), cheques and cash.
When does my dress get fitted?
The recommended time to get a dress fitted is 8-10 weeks before the wedding. A second fitting is then required approximately 3-4 weeks before to check everything fits correctly. If you haven’t got this much time, alterations can be turned around quickly, but this is only in certain circumstances.
What do I need to bring to a fitting?
You will need to bring the shoes and underwear that you plan to wear on your wedding day. This is very important as this can alter the fit of the dress.
How should I store my dress after the wedding?

It is highly advisable to get the dress cleaned before packing away. We do offer this service and we also have a selection of beautiful boxes to store the dress in once cleaned. If you are interested in this service please ring the shop for further information.
